Four Grads, Two States, and One Almost-Crying Photographer: A Graduation Saga
If there were a frequent flyer program for emotional rollercoasters, I’d have elite status after shooting FOUR graduation sessions for some of the most beautiful, brilliant, and beloved young people in my life.
Let’s start with my womb-mates (not mine, but close enough), my nieces Hannah & Sophia—aka the dynamic duo who I’ve literally known since they were sonogram smudges. Watching them graduate was like watching a Netflix series you’ve been binging for 18 years finally reach its season finale. Bittersweet, full of glow-up moments, and yes, I did bring snacks.
Then there’s my god-daughter Lea, who got me all in my feelings—like, full “choked-up-behind-the-camera” mode. I had to travel to Florida for her shoot, and I would’ve flown twice as far just to capture that smile and pretend I wasn’t wiping my eyes behind my lens. She’s stunning, brilliant, and made me consider investing in waterproof camera gear. 🥹
Speaking of Florida, I also had the honor of shooting Ezekiel, who brought style, grace, and straight-up main character energy to his session. Zeke understood the assignment. He delivered. Florida heat? No match for this guy’s chill factor.
Last but not least, Naomi! Shot her back in NJ where we kept things classy, fun, and totally fabulous. Naomi’s session was effortless—like she stepped out of a graduation magazine I didn’t even know existed. She brought beauty, brains, and poses I may or may not attempt in the mirror later (don’t judge).
Each one of these grads is near and dear to my heart. I laughed, almost cried (Lea, you did that), and left each session full of pride—and maybe a little sweat, because Florida. These moments are why I do what I do.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to ice my knees and reflect on how everyone I know is growing up way too fast. 🎓❤️
